Alice and I are just back from a short 2 night break in Devon. We stayed in a fantastic hotel which is part way between MoretonHampsted and Postbridge in the Dartmoor Moors. The hotel is a 5 star, multi-award winning golf and spa getaway kind of place. I thought it may have been a little to up-market for my liking, but infact it was spot on.
Whilst there we met up with niq for dinner at a local pub - The food was great, as was the venue. Down some winding little roads, into what felt like an abyss. It wasn’t far off at one point where a foreign driver decided to try and do his level best to write off the back end of my lovely car. Thankfully he missed.
Alice and I took a walk through the grounds of the castle, and then through into north Bovey and back right around one side of the estate. Lovely. I’m sure we’ll go back one day. Don’t know when, but I’m sure we will.
Just for the record, they got a taste of proper Hound-of-the-Baskervilles weather. The day they came down was the day it broke (from hot), and was quite pleasant though showery. Next day was very gray with drizzle and wind, while their last day was wet, with heavy one-minute-to-soaking-wet showers.
