Technical naivete

I am currently helping out with the SVN server issues at Apache, and I have spend a considerable amount of time using the Dell DRAC cards to monitor the console of the said server. I live in the UK, and this server is in Oregon. A fair old distance away.

To me this is no magical mystery, but to my wife on the other hand, well. I was running the remote media option, to boot a Dell diagnostic CD. She simply could not fathom how a single ISO image file on my laptop could make a server 9 hours flying time away boot up and run a new set of programs. She was baffled to say the least.

Oh how some days I wish I could go back to being that naive. But this is not likely to happen any time soon, alas.

Flickr photo group

I have just created a new flickr photo group called Apache - Social.

This is to allow people from the ASF to share photos of any get togethers whether it be from a social gathering at an official ASF event, or from an impromptu meet-up organised on party@

I have added a few photos already, from a catch up last year with noodl, and jink. Surely others must have some they are happy to share.

The group page is here

LinkedIn

Late last week I "re-discovered" LinkedIn. As a consequence some of you may have been asked to accept me into your connections/network. Thanks to those who obliged.

For those of you who are not yet on LinkedIn, you should be.
